Tonight Jackson Lodge was able to present bikes to six students from Lakeview Elementary via the Lodge Bikes for Books program! One of Freemasonry’s core beliefs is the importance of being a well-read, educated citizen. We are proud to encourage and recognize kids for their hard work toward that endeavor. Many thanks to Brown's Shoe Fit Centerville, Pizza Hut, and several private donors, GoPitchTV for allowing us on-air to discuss the program, and Centerville Community

Many thanks to the Brothers from around both Iowa and Missouri who travelled to assist with raising our newest Master Mason!

In addition to the Grand Lodge officers, brothers from Altoona, Des Moines, Indianola, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa, and Moravia, Iowa, along with Memphis and Unionville, Missouri helped us out.

Brother James is the son of Rob Matherly, PM, and great-grandson of Melvin Hall, PM. He becomes a fifth-generation Mason and the youngest member of Jackson Lodge.

Trivia Tuesday: Did you know that Centerville’s Francis M. Drake, who was a Civil War general, Iowa’s 16th Governor, and namesake of both Drake Avenue and Drake Library (along with some university up in Des Moines) was a member of Jackson Lodge #42? He was also a member of Chapter, Council, and Commandery of Centerville’s York Rite Masonic bodies. His Knight Templar sash and sword are on display at the Appanoose County Historical & Coal
